Report of the Guam/CNMI Marine Natural Resources Monitoring Protocols Workshop
PIFSC's Coral Reef Ecosystem Division (CRED) convened a meeting during December 7-10, 2007 to develop statistically valid protocols for ecosystem monitoring studies at Kilo Wharf, Guam, with potential application to Apra Harbor and the broader CNMI/Guam area. The "Guam/CNMI Marine Natural Resources Monitoring Protocols Workshop" was sponsored by the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Invitations to participate in the workshop were extended to scientists and others from the Navy, University of Miami, University of Guam, University of Hawaii, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands Regional Office, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and various Guam/CNMI government agencies. In January 2008, a draft report of the workshop was produced and distributed to participants and other interested parties for review and comment. Comments received were then incorporated into the final document. The final report of the workshop, entitled "Monitoring Strategy and Preliminary Survey Design for Guam/CNMI Coral Reef Ecosystem Studies with a Focus on Apra Harbor and Kilo Wharf" is available for download here in PDF format.
