Economic Valuation of Recreational Fishing in Hawaii

Abstract

Flyer cover

Saltwater fishing is a popular recreational activity in Hawaii and across the United States. In 2006, NOAA Fisheries conducted the first national survey of marine recreational anglers' expenditures on fishing. The 2006 survey provided information about angler expenditures on marine fishing activities in each coastal state and depicted the economic impact of these expenditures on the economy of each state and the nation. In 2011, a new NOAA study was implemented to update estimates of angler expenditures.

Mahalo to all fishers who participated in this important fisheries research.
