Ivor Williams Joins PIFSC Coral Reef Ecosystem Research Team

Ivor Williams has joined the PIFSC Coral Reef Ecosystem Division as quantitative ecologist and leader of the Fish Team. In his new position, he is employed by the University of Hawaii Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research. Since 2003, Williams has been a researcher for the Hawaii Coral Reef Institute and the Hawaii Cooperative Fishery Research Unit at the University of Hawaii, primarily involved with coral reef science and management programs involving the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Aquatic Resources. Earlier, he was with The International Center for Living Aquatic Resources Management and the Netherlands Institute for Sea Research. Williams received his doctorate degree in 2000 from Newcastle University (UK), where he studied macroalgal overgrowth of Caribbean reefs.
