Fisheries Research and Monitoring Activities Combined Under New Research Division

In a recent reorganization of fisheries-related activities at the Center, staff involved in fisheries monitoring, fish biology, fisheries bycatch research, and fish stock assessment were joined in a single, new PIFSC division: the Fisheries Research and Monitoring Division (FRMD), led by Division Chief Dr. Christofer Boggs. Previously, fisheries monitoring staff were in a separate division from the others. The new division consists of two Branches: the Fisheries Biology and Stock Assessment Branch (FBSAB, led by Boggs) and the Fisheries Monitoring Branch (FMB, led by David Hamm). Socioeconomics research, formerly combined with fisheries monitoring, is carried out as a program in the Science Directors office under the leadership of Sarah Malloy.
